Celis Brewery
Belgian brewmaster Pierre Celis introduced his signature Witbier in 1992 as Texas’ first, locally produced craft beer. A milkman who began brewing in his hometown of Hoegaarden, Belgium in 1965, he quickly realized his original Witbier recipe was special. Pierre smuggled his distinctive yeast strain to the U.S. by putting the vials in his socks, adding to his already growing legend in the beer world.
When his daughter Christine Celis re-launched the brewery in 2017, it needed an introduction to a younger crowd in a highly competitive marketplace full of new, local craft beers.
